The Secret to Profit is to Talk Your Way to It

I was once one of “those corporate types” and miserable, like many of my clients are when they first come to me to learn how to break free of that and move toward a lucrative lifestyle business. Amid my misery, I had the income and the stress that often accompanies a high level corporate position. Sure, I was good at what I did—I was even great at it but it didn’t feel good. I knew I wanted a better life and more time to enjoy it.
I left my job to start my own business and become an “entrepreneur.” Even the sound of entrepreneur had allure. And the vision of working for myself on my timetable, with me making all the rules, sounded like a dream. And for a while, it was a dream. But within six months, I almost returned to corporate. And many of my clients often feel the same way.
Having your own business is easy. Having a profitable business … not so much. That’s why so many entrepreneurs don’t make it to their five year business anniversary and, often, give up long before it.
When I came down from the excitement and freedom of running my own business, I felt the strain of not making enough money and wondering when that would get better. As you probably do, too, I saw many of my peers seeming to have successful, high income businesses, and wondered why that wasn’t me. I knew how to market. I knew how to sell. I knew I was a good business coach. But that wasn’t enough. I needed to find a way to create a business that brought in clients and money so I could sleep at night. I needed a process I could rely on.
At the brink of giving up, I got down to the bones of what I had created and rebuilt. I figured out the process I could use to get more clients—quickly—and to make more money right then and there. It’s the process that’s taken me from the brink of quitting on my dream to the six-figure lifestyle business I’ve come to not only enjoy but confidently rely upon.
And underneath the process, the cornerstone of it all is speaking!

Sounds simple, right? I’ll share a secret … it kind of is! It’s simple when you have a system, a process, a strategy to use over and over, any time you need more clients and more income. It’s my Client Converting Talks and Talk and Profit system. It includes three steps:
- a signature talk that attracts ideal clients
- closing the room and then closing the sales
- a sustainable business model to work smarter, with less clients, and in less time
That’s it. Get down to the bones of your gift and create a signature talk that shares that message in a way that converts clients—a way that fills your programs and services. And give that talk EVERYWHERE you can reach your ideal clients—on big stages, in small breakout sessions, at networking events, on webinars and telesummits, and radio shows and podcasts. Make it your business to give your talk to grow your business and watch what happens.
