Sell Yourself: How to Marry Your Image and Brand

Have you ever doubted if you’re distinguishable? Wonder why someone should work with you vs. one of your competitors?
We’ve all been there. Wondered why someone would hire us vs. someone else in our field.
Did you know that one of the buying triggers is a connection to your image and brand?
Yup, it’s true.
People are naturally attracted to certain styles, colors, personalities and traits.
As an online business owner it’s your job to stand out. Your competition on the web is steep. Half the battle is driving traffic to you via Google, social media and referrals. But once the traffic is on your website or social media channel it’s your job to keep them there so they can begin to buy you, not necessarily your services quite yet but buy YOU!
So how is that done exactly? Well, it’s when you know how to connect your image, with your style and personality and make it into your brand.
There are some brilliant business owners who are doing it and you can learn a tremendous amount from studying them. Women like Lady Gaga, Oprah Winfrey, Ali Brown and Marie Forleo. All of them have a distinguishable style and marketable brand. Each one of them attracts a certain individual.
Now the big question is, “Do you?”
Here’s what I recommend you do before you meet with a Branding and or Image Consultant.
Know Yourself – what is it like to wear? How do you like to write? What type of feel do you want to create for people when they work with you?
Know What Makes You Unique– I love to watch “The Voice”, not just for the music but to get to know all four of the judges better. Each one of them is unique and brings a different sense of style to their brand. Their brand isn’t just their music it’s their entire presence. So what is it about you that’s unique?
Know Who You Want to Attract – this is tremendously important because it helps make your marketing much easier. What types of individuals do you want to attract? Identify the characteristics and interests of these individuals.
Know Your Goals– it’s important to me to host many live events and begin speaking live. With that in mind I know I need to have a polished and memorable image. Ask yourself if you were to start speaking live or be interviewed on TV or the web, do you feel that you know how to dress for success? Are you creating a connection and memory for your prospects?
Meet with a Branding and or Image Consultant – to sell yourself you need to step up your image. Some people feel comfortable doing this on their own while others do not. I highly recommend that you meet with someone to help you connect all the dots between what you want your business brand and image to look like.
No matter which stage you’re in, blending your brand and image is a smart business decision so that you can sell your services to those who will most likely connect with your total business image, vibe and platform.
