Every business needs to have a way to attract clients and a process to convert them to paying customers.
If you have a service based business then often times it’s necessary to have a conversation with your prospects to help them decide if working together is right.
Let’s say you do that and it’s in the form of a “Strategy Call”, “Discovery Session” or however you’d like to brand it. It goes well, they want to hire you, now what?
The next step is providing them the opportunity to choose from the services you offer.
But what happens when you only have one way for them to work with you?
Many of my clients when they first come to me do not offer anything other than a per hour service and I say that’s a mistake because no matter what type of business you have or are trying to create; if you offer service then you can find multiple ways to get paid for what you do.
Why offer more than one option? Because people need to have choices—but not too many, I recommend that you offer three to four tops, especially if you’re first starting out.
Now one of my clients who happens to be a Virtual Assistant thought she could only offer her services by the hour however in our work together I was able to show her how to create a program that would serve the needs of many and could easily turn into a downloadable, evergreen product. She’s now on her way to developing a passive stream of income that can sell itself even when she’s asleep.
I would imagine if you have a service based business you can do the same in yours now too.
Here are a few easy ways to get started with offering multiple streams of income in your business:
1. Research-look at what your competitors are doing and create services or programs to fill in the gaps
2. Ask-if you don’t offer anything other than one service right now then start asking your market and existing clients what they would like
3. Create-look at what you now offer and how you can bundle them or separate them to create different programs and packages to serve your client’s needs.
Now you’ll see how I’ve done the exact same thing by creating a course to teach people how to create packages and programs from their services. You can learn more about it here in my “Create Packages and Programs to Sell Your Solo Services”
Your Turn: How do you currently get paid for what you do? Have you considered how you can make more money in your business by offering multiple options for clients to work with you?
