How to Get Over Your Fear of Speaking Publicly

Picture a shy, young girl who never wanted to be called on in class.

Picture a shy, young woman who never wanted to stand up in front of the room to give a 5 minute presentation to her classmates.

Now picture a woman who is passionate about what she believes in and stands comfortably on the stage without stress or fear and at the end of her presentation closes 40-50% of the room.

Believe it or not, that young girl was me. The same person who now wholeheartedly and passionately believes speaking is the fastest and easiest way to bring in more clients and share your brilliance and message with the world.

Why is it if it’s the fastest way to do it, that most coaches and entrepreneurs won’t do it? One word, FEAR.

Fear of public speaking is the number one reason most don’t want to speak.

It’s not just the fear of standing on a stage. It’s the fear of putting yourself out there for judgement and criticism.

But what if instead of worrying about how people will pick apart what you’re saying, you focus on the message you’re sharing. Because public speaking is basically standing up and conveying something you’re passionate about.

The real trick to overcoming your fear of speaking is to tap into your passion about your message.

Think about it this way, all of the greatest speakers in the world have been or are passionate about their stand. They wholeheartedly believe in what they’re saying.

It can be the same for you. The more passionate and knowledgeable you are about your message the easier it is to put your fear aside and do it.

In future articles I’ll be diving deeper into “how to’s” but for now I’d like you to simply tap into your message, why you feel the world needs to know about it and how it will help them by knowing about it.
