How Thinking Small Will Limit Your Income

During the Mastermind portion of my recent retreat we had an opportunity to put each attendee’s business under the magnifying glass to uncover what needed to be tweaked and changed.

When it was time for one of my Mastermind clients to step up and have her challenges and business examined, as a group we quickly discovered why she wasn’t making any money yet, it was because she was playing too small and not thinking big enough.

She started working with me earlier in the year and during that time a great deal shifted. Local radio interviews, a published book, several new clients, a new website and opportunities galore. The only problem was that she wouldn’t commit to her niche and by not doing so she was pigeon holing herself.

Let me give you a little background about my client. She’s absolutely lovely in every way but her former career never prepared her for entrepreneurship. So when it came down to learning how to grow her business online she decided to hire me.

The first few months she got her website revamped, defined her coaching packages, co-wrote and published a book and began taking clients but her rates were her Achilles heels- she didn’t want to charge too much because in her area they were used to low rates.

Month after month I challenged her to expand her business online and charge more for her services. She was beginning to see her value and think about raising her rates but she was holding herself back and didn’t know how to make the shift.

That is until she finally discovered what was holding her back.

When she hopped in the hot seat the day of our Mastermind she had an opportunity to have her business be on full display to her Mastermind mates and me. When she put all her cards on the table it was finally clear that the reason why she had low fees and a small client base was because she wasn’t thinking BIG and VIRTUAL.

I see it happen all the time with my clients, they don’t realize their full potential until they realize that they can expand beyond their neighborhood and use the internet to impact more people.

At the end of her hot seat with the help of her Mastermind mates and me, she had a complete plan to attract clients throughout the entire country, a clearly defined and HOT niche and the exact plan to achieve a multiple 6-figure business. Not bad for 20 minutes in the hot seat, huh?

Do you see what collaborative thinking can do? Do you see that when you’re trying to grow your business all by yourself you may be putting limitations on yourself? It’s time to stop limiting your reach and go big and virtual with your business.

Time and time again I hear from my clients that they love the power of a Mastermind where they have their colleagues and me collectively supporting them and showing them how to think big and bold.

Sometimes you can only go so far with your own ideas but you achieve a very profitable business when you have the power of a Mastermind behind you.
