First let me start by saying that this is a post I never in a million years would have ever dreamed of writing. I'm a Business Strategist after all – what's my intuition got to do with running my business?
I remember the first time I noticed my intuition at work.
It was in my very first job and I'd been working late. Walking through the parking garage on my way to the elevator, the hair on the back of my neck stood up and I suddenly felt a need to take the stairs instead.
As I climbed to the top of the stairs, I heard a group of people exiting the elevator saying how relieved they were that they hadn't been stuck in the elevator longer.
A coincidence? Something bigger at play? I think the latter.
Since then I've slowly started to understand how my intuition comes into play throughout my entire life and business and that the more I acknowledge it and use it the easier it is for my business growth.
Let me share how I use it throughout my business and how I think you can too.
Your Intuition and Marketing
About two years ago I began to notice a resistance around my marketing.
What I'd learned was that as a business owner (especially one with an online presence), it was necessary to be everywhere online.
For year I played the “Be everywhere” game – posting on Facebook 4x a day, 20 posts on Twitter a week, one newsletter to my mailing list a week, one weekly blog post…and it went on and on from there.
But were all those efforts bringing me clients?
No…no they weren't!
Was I exhausted? Yes! Yes I was.
I knew there was something off – so I took a step back and asked myself,
“How do I really want to market my business and reach more people?”
The answer was clear – focus on speaking.
As soon as I heard that reply, I had full body goose bumps and knew it to be true.
So I stopped – almost all of my marketing and took a step back.
What's happened since – I've grown faster and easier using workshops, webinars and speaking opportunities.
And my marketing is so much easier!
So ask yourself this simple question,
“Is my marketing working?”
Then wait for an internal response from your intuition. It will likely tell you what you need to do.
Start listening and save yourself time and money.
And remember – your marketing should be one part strategy and one part intuition. Use them both together.
Your Intuition and Business Decisions
Here are examples of how I use my intuition in business:
- Going to Live Events
- Hiring and firing members for my team
- Investing in courses, programs and mentors
- Joining Mastermind programs
- Working with clients
In all of the scenarios above, I use a simple system – ready?
- Is this opportunity or decision right for me?
- If my body and senses confirm it – I know the answer.
The moment I ignore my intuition – I know I'm battling something bigger at play.
So I've stopped doing that and instead, I allow my intuition and senses to be part of my strategy and growth.
And that's what I want you to do more of in your business. Start checking in with your intuition. Make decisions from a heart-centered, intuitive and strategic place. Then see what happens to your business.
Let me know below how you use your intuition in your business? I'd love to hear.
