5 Things To Consider When Designing Your Online Business Model

So you’ve decided to take your business online, or maybe it already is – BRAVO!

As a business owner it’s one of the smartest things you can do.

A lot of people are still trying to figure out if it’s worth their time but I say “Good for you!”, because it really is 🙂

So you might be wondering, now what?

I’m online, but how do I really kick things up and create the online business I keep hearing about that can bring me a lot more freedom and money?

EXCELLENT question and here’s what you do…

1) Decide what kind of business you want

If you haven’t done this yet then your first step is to decide how you want to make money.

News Bulletin: Most entrepreneurs don’t succeed online because they haven’t figured this out.

The thing is, most people haven’t figured out their revenue streams so it’s no wonder when they try to sell their stuff they don’t know what to do and how to do it.

Before you do anything you need to decide what kind of online business you want.

Book an appointment with yourself and ask yourself these questions…

*How do I want to derive revenue from what I know and do?

*What services do I provide that I want to sell?

When I do this in my business (and I do this at least every year), I identify every possible way I want to make money in my business.

Take time to do this too.

2) Design your online sales funnel

This took me years to figure out and it wasn’t until I started studying 7-figure online business owners that I realized I was leaving money on the table (and I bet you are too).

You’ve probably heard, the money’s in the list. (I know I have…)

If you’re anything like me you’re probably wondering exactly how to pull it out of your list.

When you know how to do this, this is your Golden Ticket and your retirement plan.

It all starts with your Free Offer.

The moment someone gives you their email address is the very second the sale begins.

Now I don’t mean the hardcore, used car salesman sale.

I mean the nurturing sale.

Here’s what I mean.

You drive traffic to your Free Offer.

An offer that is totally irresistible that your ideal client must say “yes” to.

Then through a series of autoresponders and nurturing emails you weave in higher-ticket offers.

All the while you’re helping them, getting to know them and offering them exactly what they want.

When you set up your online sales funnel so that your ideal client is continuously getting valuable content and the offers that solve their problems you both win.

They get what they need and you get paid (and if you do it right, you get paid over and over and over again 😉

3) Get really good at and comfortable selling

Most people are suspicious. We don’t automatically believe something to be true until we see it with our own eyes.

We want examples. Case studies. Testimonials providing the evidence that something works.

We don’t want to feel sold to.

That’s why you need to perfect this skill and even embrace it.

I actually know a brilliant internet marketer who is now making over $5 MILLION year.

Several years ago this marketer couldn’t a cold drink to a thirsty man in the desert.

Their stuff was incredible. Their marketing was fabulous. But when it came to selling 1:1 in sales conversations or from teleseminars and webinars this individual couldn’t deliver a sales presentation or close the sale.

Here’s the SHIFT that happened…

This marketer learned how to create and present offers their ideal client couldn’t resist.

Do you see how that’s different than forcing someone to buy?

That’s why it’s critical especially in your online business that you not only know your income streams but you know what your ideal client wants to buy.

4) Create products, courses and programs

You’re probably thinking, woah – wait a minute, is that really necessary?

Yup 🙂

Here’s something cool about the time we live in – we all want more information.

We’re like sponges.

Think about it, when you’re standing on the check out line at the supermarket doesn’t your eye naturally become drawn to the magazines that say:

“How to lose x pounds in x days”

“How to find your perfect mate after divorce”

“3 ways to make your first 6-figures in less than 6-months”

You get the picture.

The point is, we all want to know how to do things and we’re always looking for the fastest path to get there.

What better way to make money than to sell what you know and do?

Where most people get stuck is in trying to figure out what to create, how to price it and how to deliver it.

Let me break it down a bit…

  • What does your ideal client want?
  • How does your ideal client want it delivered?
  • How much is your ideal client willing to pay for the solution you offer?

Know the answers to those questions then you’re sitting on a hotbed of revenue streams.

5) Create a kick-butt program (service, course or product), launch it and sell it

This is the main event.

I’m not sure about you but I know how much I like it when every day I get an email telling me I got another sale.

There’s nothing sweeter than creating something really awesome, driving traffic to it, selling it and getting paid massively for it.

And if you’re not quite sure what I’m referring to here’s an example:

  1. Design a 3-month Private Coaching program: How to Lose Weight and Get Fit After Having a Baby
  2. Create a teleseminar promoting your program
  3. Drive tons of traffic to it (your mailing list, Facebook Ads, social media, colleagues, affiliates)
  4. Host the teleseminar
  5. Sell your services

In a nutshell you’ve created a service, launched it and sold it.

The great thing about knowing what to offer, how to offer it and how to sell it online is that you can practically guarantee your income all the time.

Having an online business model that let’s you take what’s in your head, launch it and sell it not only let’s you know your income but let’s you create a business that let’s you enjoy your life (go to yoga, play with the kids, date your partner, take a beach vacation in St. John – like me 🙂
