3 Keys to Proving Everyone Wrong & Crushing Your Coaching or Consulting Business

Most people told me I’d never make it in business. The majority told me not even to try.
They were probably right, who was I to think that I could start over after years of a successful corporate career?
Having successfully grown someone else’s Employee Benefits Consulting business I figured maybe I’d have a shot with my own coaching business.
There was a huge learning curve in those days. From not knowing internet marketing and running an online business to even how to manage the technology to even get clients online using it.
But I persevered and today, five years later, I have a full practice, am a sought after speaker and have made multiple 6-figures in my business.
So what’s the secret to proving everyone wrong and crushing your business?
- Be Willing to Fail:
When I started my business I was a Health Coach and although good at it I knew there was something missing. I didn’t love it as much as I loved the business side of growing a business. After almost a year in practice I decided to rebrand and start over. As hard as it was to reinvest all over again in a new website and do the mental stuff again, I realized that I’d rather fail at something I liked than fail at something I didn’t.
Being willing to fail will teach you how to actually play the game and win.
- Be 1000% Certain of What You Do Best
I can’t tell you how many people who try to go into business and do something that they’re only “decent” at. I’m sorry to say that if you don’t lead with your best skills you’re always going to be behind your competitors who are that much better at the game than you are.
Everyone can learn new techniques and skills but when it comes down to what you shine at you must lead with it.
For example, the very thing I’ve always been good at is speaking. I love to be on the stage, I love hosting webinars and teleseminars and I love being a guest speaking on podcasts and telesummits. It feeds my soul and is the fastest and easiest way to share what I do while securing more business.
Recognize what you’re good at and lead with it.
- Be Diligent about your Marketing and Business Plan
Time and time again I see business owners barely doing what they should to bring in revenue. Quite frankly they’re doing all the wrong things.
What you must have is a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly marketing plan to know when you’re doing the activities that will lead you to the clients and business you want.
Beside that you must be completely focused on the revenue you need to bring in. How much you need to make. What offers you must sell and how you’re going to bring in enough each month to cover your costs.
Entrepreneurs spend too much time on the wrong things. Do yourself a favor and focus on what is proven to work.
