3 Easy Ways to Come Up with Catchy Titles for Your Talks

You can be the top expert in your field but if you can’t gather an audience you’ll never become known (or profit from what you do).

Speaking is one of the best ways to get know, but if you don’t have a catchy talk title you’ll never get past whoever might be booking you.

For the past few years I’ve been helping clients come up with signature talks that sell and one of the keys that helps them land more speaking engagements is a captivating title.

These days we’re conditioned to catchy titles.

You see them on book covers, magazines and presentations all the time.

The more succinct, specific and buzz worthy they are, the better.

So how do you come up with a catchy title for your talk?

Here are three things that will help you come up with your talk title:

Use Amazon.com

Amazon has a gazillion books to search for. Many of them are best sellers. One thing you’ll notice is that they have catchy titles. Do a search in the Amazon book section on your topic, using your keywords and see what comes up. Then put your own spin on it to come up with yours

Read Magazine Covers

Think about it, magazines hire the best copywriters. Why not model (never steal) what they do? Get ideas from what they have on some of the magazines you know your clients read. This will help you come up with your own title.

Use your Facebook Newsfeed

This is where you can get a hotbed of information. You’ll notice that marketers are running Ads either in the center of your feed or on the right side. Start paying attention to these Ads.  In particular I want you to look at the ones for webinars, teleseminars, Telesummits and events. Screenshot the ones you like and save them to review later. (I use Evernote to do that). Then twist them using your keywords to make them work for you.

And that’s it. Simple!

Don’t let a poor talk title get in the way of you reaching more people, getting more clients and or selling your services. Work on this now to start developing a signature talk that sells.
